YuHsin Wu is a transdisciplinary artist, born in Taiwan and based in Chicago. Her praxis explores social issues through performative sculptures and installations. The structural language of the grid metaphorically shuttles between the roles of the viewfinder, geographic coordinates, thought dimensions, and the limitations of perspective, providing a multidimensional perspective in her narrative.

With her integrated vocabulary, YuHsin confronts critical issues of resistance, protest, mobility, and displacement through the lens of grids. Her works unfold with the force of time, location, and converging energy, resulting in a reshaped viewpoint and changing horizon. Driven by the force of political surroundings, YuHsin's work is a poignant commentary on the world around us.

YuHsin holds an MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (US). She has participated in renowned residencies, including the Sovereignty Thematic Residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute (NM, US), the Anderson Ranch Arts Center Artist in Residency, the Haystack Mountain School of Craft (MA, US), and the Taipei Artist Village. Her work has been showcased on the international stage at various venues, including the Terrain Biennial, The Plan Gallery (Chicago), Treasure Hill Artist Village (Taiwan), Tacoma Art Museum, Waterstone Gallery (OR), Dongdaemun Design Plaza (South Korea), and Nappe Arsenale (Italy). Her artistic contributions have also found homes in the collections of Taipei Artist Village and Basic Space Gallery.

Wu has received the Santa Fe Art Institute BIPOC Award (NM, U.S.A.), as well as the 50th Anniversary Fellowships and Endowment Award Funds from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VA, U.S.A.). Her accomplishments have garnered recognition in publications such as Taiwan Architecture Magazine, e-flux Architecture, Daily Art News, SAIC MFA Sculpture Catalog, the 10th Asian Artist Art Festival, and the Laguna International Art Prize. Through her praxis, she endeavors to inspire positive change by encouraging viewers to reflect on their roles within the system and work towards creating a more open and accommodating space.
