Imagine the World Without Borders, 2024
Medium: Digital prints on paper.
Dimensions: 5x5x 1/16”
Using images of the U.S.-Mexico border wall, this project examines the power dynamics of borders and their impact on migration and human mobility.
I replicate border landscapes and disrupt them by cutting and removing sections that represent walls and barriers. This act of erasure transforms symbols of division into openings for connection, challenging the permanence and authority of these boundaries. The voids left behind are not just empty spaces—they signify possibility, vulnerability, and the potential to reimagine territories beyond confinement.
As viewers engage with the folds, rigid barriers shift into dynamic forms—bridges rather than walls. The act of folding and unfolding simulates migration, movement, and crossing, making the viewer an active participant in dismantling and reconfiguring borders.
This project envisions a more inclusive, open future where borders dissolve into connections, and shared humanity transcends division.
